Lemon Butter Flank Steak

1 1/2 lb. flank steak
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
4 Tbsp. olive oil
4 tsp. finely shredded lemon peel
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
1 recipe Lemon Butter, below
4 cups shredded Napa Cabbage
1 cup fresh bean sprouts
2 reen onions, bias-sliced into 1-inch pieces

1. Place steak in a shallow dish. Add cilantro, half of the olive oil, the lemon peel and juice, garlic, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/4 tsp. black pepper, and the red pepper. Turn steak to coat. Cover; chill 30 minutes to 1 1/2 hours.

2. Meanwhile, prepare Lemon Butter; set aside. In a 12-inch nonstick skillet heat remaining oil over medium heat. Remove steak from marinade; discard marinade. Cook steak 15 minutes or to desired doneness (I only cooked mine for 10 minutes), turning once. Cover; let stand 10 minutes.

3. Add vegetables to skillet. Cook and stir over medium heat 2 minutes or until crisp-tender. Season with salt and pepper. serve steak with vegetables and Lemon Butter. Makes 4 servings.

Lemon Butter: In bowl combine 3 Tbsp. softened butter; 3 Tbsp. minced lemongrass; 1/4 cup cilantro; 1 Tbsp. lemon juice; salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper to taste.

Lemon grass is not easy to find.. But I found it at the Sunflower Farmers Market across from the mall.

Tip I received from the guy in the meat department: make sure to cut the meat against the grain before cooking so that it will be tender.

Best of all, it's Jake approved

New Furniture?

I just finished painting this chest of drawers

My grandpa gave it to me as a wedding present. Or he bought it just for fun. You never know these days.

He bought it for $25 dollars at a yard sale

Now it looks like a million bucks!

I want to buy some new handles though... Any ideas on where to purchase them?

Jake had a basketball down at BYU the other night. I was there simply to document the event.

I cannot believe that they start games as late as 10 p.m.!

They were not even competition for the fine men of American Fork High School. We Jimmered them. I heard they are going to be putting that word in the dictionary soon. Jimmered; defined as when a person makes another person look as if they are ridiculous, uneducated, unskilled or flat out dumb.

Want to know how I made these photos look "old school"? I simply loaded them onto photobucket.com

You need to make yourself a free account, then you load your pictures onto the site and they allow you to edit them.

I used an effect under the tab "retro" that is called cross process.

End of editing. Easy right?

Birthday Cake

Happy Birthday Brittney and Ben! We had a little celebration for them and I volunteered to make the cake.

I baked a cake I saw on a blog.. cannot remember which one. Anyway, I made the cake with only one cake mix.. which I would not recommend.

What you gotta do is mix two cake mixes together, then take two cups for each layer. You dye each layer a different color.

I did red, orange, yellow, green, blue then purple.

Bake each layer for like .. 12 minutes I'm guessing. It is time consuming because if, like me, you only have two cake pans. But be patient, the final outcome is worth it!

Here are some pictures from the night!
